Homecoming Brings School's Alumni Back to Campus
Thousands of alumni including many graduates of the School of Business returned to the "U" to join current students, faculty, and community members to celebrate the University of Miami's Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 festivities, Friday and Saturday, November 6-7.Former students had the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and relive old memories on Friday night at the reunion parties on Alumni Avenue, a giant block party featuring class and affinity reunions, as well as a gathering of School of Business alumni. Entertainment was provided by a local radio station on the lawn in front of the School of Business. The School also had a booth at the event where fellow former business students could reunite with each other as well as find out what is happening at the School of Business today.
Alumni Avenue took place following the annual Homecoming Parade and preceded the traditional Homecoming boat burning and fireworks display. Alumni had the opportunity to meet President Donna Shalala as well as former UM football defensive back Bennie Blades, who served as the official Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 Grand Marshal. Blades played for the Hurricanes from 1985 - 1987.
