Classroom Dedicated to Honor Alumnus Gift

Classroom 430 in the Aresty Graduate Building is now named the Christopher S. Yingling Classroom. The classroom was named to honor the generous donation made to the School by Yingling and his family. A dedication ceremony was held in October to recognize the gift, which will support undergraduate business programs and student career placement.

Top Miami HEAT Executive Shares Lessons on Managing Champions

School of Business alumni kicked off the University’s homecoming weekend this November with a presentation by Kim Stone (MBA ’03), executive vice president of the Miami HEAT and general manager of the AmericanAirlines Arena, who spoke about “Managing Champions” during the Business Alumni Leadership Lecture.

Alumnus Named on National List of Top Investment Advisors

Patrick Dwyer (MBA ’93), a private wealth advisor at Merrill Lynch, was recognized on “The Top 100 Wirehouse Advisors in America” list published in the September edition of Registered Rep. magazine. The honor follows Dwyer’s previous recognitions by Barron’s magazine earlier this year.

Well-known music entrepreneur Steve Rifkind, CEO and chairman of SRC Records, spoke to marketing students from the School of Business in September about entrepreneurship and the impact of unconventional marketing strategies in the entertainment industry.

MBA Student Wins Statewide Business Plan Competition

One of the School’s MBA students has won the first annual statewide collegiate business plan competition at the annual Early Stage Venture Capital Conference. Mark Slaughter, CEO of Collaborative Bioscience, beat out six other finalists from other universities throughout the state of Florida.
