Leadership Institute Presents Award at Academy of Management Conference
Marie Dasborough, assistant professor of management organized and facilitated a professional development workshop (PDW) at the recent Academy of Management conference, titled “Developing Proposals Together: Mentoring to Advance Leadership Research.”Prior to the workshop, participants submitted research proposals that were reviewed by senior scholars in the field. The workshop provides doctoral students and junior faculty the opportunity to discuss their leadership research in a collegial roundtable setting with prominent leadership scholars.
This year, 20 proposals were submitted by individuals from countries around the globe including Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The School’s Leadership Institute generously sponsored an award for the best proposal to Pat Sniderman, a doctoral student at the Open University in the United Kingdom, by Terri Scandura, a professor of management and the academic director of the Leadership Institute.
Sniderman’s proposal was titled “The impact of disconfirming and confirming managerial communication on employee emotions: The moderating role of employee emotion regulation and perceived relationship quality.” In addition to pursuing her doctoral degree, Sniderman teaches at Ryerson University in Toronto.
