The School of Business Administration organizes and hosts the annual University of Miami Business Plan Competition, offering more than $36,000 in prizes each year to help student entrepreneurs launch and grow new ventures. The annual competition is open to all University of Miami students, and each year receives entries from students across campus. There are separate tracks for undergraduate and graduate students. The competition begins each fall when entrants are invited to submit a 3-5 page concept paper. Following a review of all entries, 20 teams are selected to submit detailed business plans. In the spring, the teams present their plans before an elite group of judges who will select the winners and award $36,000 in prize money. Visit the Business Plan Competition Web site for the schedule, eligibility, guidelines and other information.
Sunshine State Venture Challenge
The School is also a founding and organizing committee member for the Sunshine State Venture Challenge, Florida's annual statewide collegiate business plan competition. Each year entrants from UM and other Florida universities compete in the Limited Investment and Investment Intensive categories for prizes and the title of state champion. Visit the Venture Challenge Web site for more information.
