The University of Miami School of Business Administration takes a leadership role in ethics education through its innovative academic programs, extracurricular activities, community outreach and research agenda. The School prepares its students to meet the ethical challenges they will face in the workplace and provides guidance to the business community as it faces a changing and complex legal and compliance environment.

The School provides unique opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate business students to develop and improve their ethical decision making skills. From the revolutionary freshman required course called FIRST Step, to the MBA Consultant to Nonprofits Program, business students at UM can immerse themselves in programs to develop and enhance their ethical decision making skills.

The School’s Business Ethics Programs, directed by Anita Cava, professor of business law, works closely with University of Miami Ethics Programs, to organize and sponsor an ethics lecture series, an ethics film series, competitions including the UM Ethics Debate, and other events throughout the year.

Through these and the School’s academic programs, students learn to appreciate the notion that a corporate enterprise is part of the larger social fabric, and that ethical business practices and tangible relations with the community are essential features of a corporate strategy for success.
