Teaching & Professional Experience
Juan M. Rodriguez (CPA) has been a full-time Lecturer at the University of Miami since 1991. The two basic areas he teaches are Financial Accounting and International Taxation. Mr. Rodriguez’s background, however, has not been only in the field of academics. He has had a 25 year career with KPMG LLP (formerly Peat Marwick) working both in the audit and international tax field. Although Mr. Rodriguez started his career in New York City and ended it in Miami his most senior responsibilities were in the international world. He was for several years the Tax Partner in Charge for Spain and Portugal and subsequently the Senior Tax Partner for Latin America. In his capacity as a KPMG professional Mr. Rodriguez has advised some of the world’s leading corporations such as General Electric, Citicorp, Star Kist Foods, J.C. Penney, General Mills, Gillette and many others.
Mr. Rodriguez has lectured on professional subjects in many cities of the world including New York and Miami; San Juan (Puerto Rico); Munich (Germany); Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Mallorca (Spain); Montreaux (Switzerland); Paris (France); Montecarlo; Caracas (Venezuela); San Jose (Costa Rica); Panama City (Panama); Guatemala City (Guatemala); Sao Paolo (Brazil); Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and the Bahamas.
