Concentration in Mergers & Acquisitions
Mergers & Acquisitions
The MBA mergers & acquisitions concentration is a sophisticated cross-disciplinary concentration designed to prepare students who anticipate careers in investment banking, in strategic consulting, or in high level corporate finance. Drawing from law, management, and finance, the concentration provides students with a rigorous introduction to the theory and practical implementation of mergers and acquisitions.
The following courses are required for a Mergers and Acquisitions concentration:
BSL 691 The Public Corporation: Legal Perspectives
FIN 670 Corporate Finance
FIN 674 Financial Analysis of Mergers and Acquisitions
MGT 679 Merger and Acquisition Strategies
MGT 698 Practical Applications of the Investment Process
Also highly recommended: ACC 672 - Advanced Financial Analysis
The chairs of FIN and MGT had agreed that the M&A concentration offerings (FIN 670, FIN 674, and MGT 679] can be applied toward the MGT or FIN concentrations, as appropriate. This will enable MBA students specializing in FIN or MGT to add M&A as a "double concentration."
Because of its integral substance, students pursuing the M&A concentration will be encouraged to also take ACC 672.
