Student Profile

Lisette De Oro
MBA 2011
Caracas, Venezuela
"I started my career with Bayer Healthcare as a sales representative and later moved with Novartis where I held many different roles and had the opportunity to see the business from many different perspectives and it was there where I decided I needed an MBA to continue growing professionally," says Lisette De Oro, who chose the University of Miami because of its proximity to more than 1,100 multinational corporations.
"Particularly attractive is the diversity here," observes De Oro. "In my learning team I have people from five different countries and people I would have never met in Venezuela. They are from India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and elsewhere."
A diverse student body, coupled with a world-class faculty, sets UM apart she says. Indeed members of the business faculty represent dozens of countries, conduct leading-edge global business research, and consult with FORTUNE 500® companies - experience that enriches the classroom experience.
"They have such a wide working experience in the fields they are teaching and they bring that to the classroom, which makes everything more interesting and real," says De Oro.
