Student Profile

Robert Fishman
MBA 2011
White Plains, New York
Robert Fishman left a job in asset management on Wall Street to come back to Florida to pursue his MBA at UM. And while he applauds his professors and classes - particularly those in finance and accounting - he's also excited about work outside the classroom. When the Clinton Global Initiative came to campus in April 2010, he jumped at the opportunity.
"Four other team members and I were able to get involved with some philanthropic work in response to the Haiti earthquake, so that was a really special experience for me," says Fishman.
Not enough to keep him busy during his second semester, Fishman was also part of a team that took home the trophy in the regional ACG Cup competition - successfully solving an investment banking challenge after a long night of preparation.
"I remember at JP Morgan I would have some nights like that where I would stay up late," says Fishman who adds that this time was different "because I was working with some of my friends who I developed close relationships with over the past six months, and so while it seemed like hard work and certainly a lot of time, we c had a lot of fun and some good laughs with it."
