for Executive MBA Program in Puerto Rico
Program to Begin in October 2009

Coral Gables, Fla. and San Juan, Puerto Rico – July 23, 2009 – The University of Miami School of Business Administration today announced that the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education has authorized the School to deliver its highly regarded Executive MBA (EMBA) program in the commonwealth. The approval clears the way for the School to begin the program in October 2009. Classes for the two-year EMBA program will be held on Saturdays, enabling professionals living and working in the region to earn the University of Miami MBA degree in Puerto Rico without interrupting their careers. The program will be delivered just outside San Juan in Guaynabo.

“We have received a tremendous response from the business community since we announced our intent to offer our Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico,” said Barbara Kahn, dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration. “We look forward to helping professionals enhance their leadership and management skills to advance in their careers and grow Puerto Rico’s economy as we bring our world-class EMBA program to the region.”

The University of Miami Executive MBA program is designed to enhance the general business, critical thinking, decision-making and strategic skills of business executives. Emphasis is placed on global management practices, global markets, understanding information, finance, and people, and on leadership development. Classes in the Puerto Rico EMBA program will be taught by the same world-class faculty who teach in the School’s main campus MBA programs.

The launch of the Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico marks another milestone in the history of the School’s EMBA program, which is currently ranked No. 33 among all EMBA programs in The Americas by the influential Financial Times. The program, which started in 1973 at the School’s main campus, was expanded to include programs in the Bahamas in 1976, Palm Beach County, Fla. in 1996, Tampa, Fla. in 1999, and Orlando, Fla. in 2001.
