Marketing Professor Receives Award from Leading Journal

   

A. Parasuraman, professor, department chair, and holder of the James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing, received a Highly Commended Award for an article published in the Journal of Service Management.

The article, entitled “Understanding Generation Y and their use of social media: a review and research agenda,” was also first runner-up for the 2013 Robert Johnston Best Paper Award, which is awarded by the journal based on voting by its editorial review board. Parasuraman co-authored the article with Ruth Bolton of Arizona State University, Ankie Hoefnagels of Maastricht Hotel Management School, Nanne Migchels of Radboud Universiteit, Yuliya Komarova Loureiro and Sertan Kabadayi of Fordham Schools of Business, Thorsten Gruber of Loughborough University, and David Solent of The University of Queensland.


Keynote Address in Mumbai

Parasuraman also delivered a keynote address entitled “Ubiquitous Marketing: Unwired Consumers … Rewriting Rulebooks” at the 9th Annual SIMSR Global Marketing Conference held in Mumbai, India, on January 7th, 2014. Organized by the K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SIMSR), one of the largest private educational trusts in India, the conference offers a platform for marketing practitioners and academics to share their knowledge of and experience with new innovations in marketing.
