    UM's Florida 50 Index

    The School established the University of Miami’s Florida 50 Index, which tracks all Florida firms in the S&P Composite 1500® Index,  as the first custom S&P Dow Jones index to be owned by a university and it is the only index that focuses only on public companies headquartered in an individual U.S. state.

    In 2010, the School was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to establish the University of Miami Center for Interntional Business Education and Research.

    First Business Plan Competition

    Top winners in the School's first Business Plan Competition included  Crue Clothing, a clothing line for wakeboarders, Contemporary Interiors, home furnishings by artisians in Colombia and Mexico, and Gocha Mojo, a Japanese word game based on English-language games.

    Mentor Program is Born

    In 1990, the School of Business established a Mentor Program, which brings students togther with business professionals for one-to-one career preparation and other guidance.

    School of Business Founded

    The University of Miami School of Business Administration was founded in 1929 under President Bowman Foster Ashe, four years after the University itself was chartered.
