PhD Program Admissions
Consideration for admission to the PhD program requires a completed application form, transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate institution (if any) attended, three letter of recommendation forms, an official score report on either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), and for international students whose native language is not English, an official score report for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. A masters degree is not required for admission to the PhD program.
Students applying to the program in economics should take the GRE exam. Either exam (GMAT or GRE) is accepted for other disciplines. Minimum required scores are 650 on the GMAT and 1250 on the GRE. An equivalent GPA of B+ or better in undergraduate and graduate (if any) coursework is required for consideration. Strong quantitative skills, as demonstrated through GMAT/GRE scores and prior coursework, and the potential to do and publish high-quality original research are emphasized in the admissions process.
