Implications of Consumption-Income Sensitivity on Portfolio Decisions Among Topics Explored as School Brings Together Leading Behavioral Finance Scholars from Around the World

Rather than taking into account and hedging for future income variations, as traditional models predict, households use their current income as a license to spend money, and this governs their investment decisions. That was a key finding of research by three members of the School’s finance faculty presented at the fifth annual Miami Behavioral Finance Conference.

In Times of Crisis, Small Investors Can Move Markets Due to Emotional Trading Says Finance Department Study

In the wake of a market-wide crisis, such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks, trading by retail investors can move markets opposite to the trading by institutions. That is among the findings of a new study in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, from the School’s finance department.
