Undergraduates in the Big Apple for Up-Close Look at the World of Finance

A group of 16 undergraduate business students had the opportunity to learn about the world of finance first-hand in New York City in October. The trip, made possible through the Bermont-Carlin Scholars Program, included visits to the JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Barclays, UBS, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill and a number of other firms.

Ruben Dario Lizarralde (MSPM ’99) was named Colombia’s minister of agriculture by President Juan Manuel Santos on September 11.

School Welcomes New Faculty Members

The School of Business is welcoming three new faculty members this fall. Derick Davis has joined the School as an assistant professor of marketing, Stefanos Delikouras is an assistant professor of finance, and Alex Horenstein is an assistant professor of economics.

The School plans to launch an innovative weekend Executive MBA program that breaks new ground in MBA education and will uniquely focus on four key management themes – those of importance to individuals and organizations operating in or connecting with high-growth markets, particularly those of the Americas.

School Gets $450,000 Grant to Study Link Between Cancer Risk and Auto Traffic

Yongtao Guan, a professor of management science, along with collaborators from the Yale School of Public Health, has received a $453,000 grant from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to identify potential links between cancer risk and the proximity of homes to heavy automobile traffic.
