ENG 201 World Literary Masterpieces I Comparative study of literary masterpieces from ancient times through the Renaissance. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 202 World Literary Masterpieces II Comparative study of literary masterpieces from the Renaissance to the present. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 205 Jewish Literature Selections from the Bible, the Talmud, the Kabbalah, medieval poetry and prose, Yiddish and Sephardic literature, and contemporary American and Israeli writers. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 210 Literary Themes and Topics Literary analysis and practice in critical writing through the study of selected works; themes and topics vary by semester. Course may not be repeated. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 211 English Literature I Selected readings from the middle ages to the late 18th century. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 212 English Literature II Selected readings from the late 18th century to the present. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 213 American Literature I Selected American authors prior to the Civil War. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 214 American Literature II Selected American authors from the Civil War to the present. Satisfies writing requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 215 English and American Literature by Women A survey of women writers from the Middle Ages to the present; explores the female literary tradition and women's relationship to culture and society. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 220 Introduction to Poetry Introduction to the forms of poetry through the analysis of representative poems. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 221 Introduction to Fiction Forms of prose fiction and the analysis of representative short stories and novels. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 260 African-American Literature Selected readings of the eighteenth century to the present. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
ENG 261 Literature of the Americas Selected readings from North, Central, and South American, and Caribbean literatures from their origins to the present. Prerequisite: ENG 106 or equivalent.
