Shayla Waldon, of West Palm Beach, Florida, is a future attorney who already knows how to think like one. How did you get smart? For one thing, this goal- oriented legal studies major worked on cases and depositions over the summer at the Palm Beach County, Florida School District Office of Chief Council. For an added edge, she took advantage of a special UM program - participating in the School of Business Ethics Debate competition, where she learned to think ethically and apply her knowledge to real-world situations.

"We learned how to look at a case, evaluate the ethical situations and potential fallout, and provide solutions," Shayla recalls."It was a great experience to practice getting your arguments together, listening to the other side's arguments and then using those arguments to your own advantage. The analytical skills I learned have helped me get to where I am today."

We have a feeling Shayla's journey to a successful future legal career has only just begun
