The MS in Sustainable Business curriculum at the Miami Herbert Business School starts with a focus on business by rethinking core business disciplines to focus on sustainability.
Beyond the business core, students will receive training in the scientific basics through interdisciplinary electives from the University of Miami's world-renowned Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) and the industry-leading Department of Civil Architecture and Environmental Engineering (CAE). Students learn how to statistically estimate the benefits to society of sustainability programs, so that firms can focus on programs that provide the largest impact.
The curriculum also includes an experiential capstone course. Working in teams, the Capstone Project enables MS in Sustainable Business students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. In 2019/20, the MS in Sustainable Business capstone project will take place at Office Depot. Students will work in project groups to research relevant sustainability topics and then present their findings and outcomes to leadership at Office Depot. Student proposals and potential ideas will be evaluated by the organization and could potentially influence future operations and business behavior.
A sustainability program consistent with JM Family’s core values provides a competitive advantage in the market, while promoting the social good. An MS in Sustainable Business from the University of Miami provides rigorous training in this emerging field.
