The Master of Science in Taxation (MST) program affords the accounting major (or equivalent) the opportunity to specialize in the area of federal taxation.
The MS in Taxation places emphasis on a thorough grounding of the principles of tax research, corporate taxation, and flow-through entities. In addition, this Masters Program offers courses addressing issues in both tax compliance and tax planning. Moreover, through electives, students are able to expand their areas of expertise, so that they may adequately prepare themselves for careers requiring a high degree of specialized tax knowledge in public accounting, private industry, and government.
Through this program, those who have taken the accounting and related courses required for an undergraduate accounting degree can earn the additional 30 semester hours of education necessary to become a CPA (see the Frequently Asked Questions section for more information about these requirements).
Don’t have an undergraduate accounting degree but want to obtain an MST or become a CPA? Miami’s Accounting Summer Intensive Program’s been designed for you!
Applications are reviewed frequently for rolling admissions so there are no formal deadlines. However, we recommend that applications be submitted by April 15 for the fall semester and by September 15 for the spring.
