Click on the CaneLink hold symbol to determine which department has placed the hold and contact that department for assistance.

What happens if I miss my registration appointment time?

How do I validate the classes in my shopping cart to know if I'm eligible to enroll?
Here is a tutorial that walks you through the registration validation process.
Once I click enroll from the shopping cart, am I enrolled?
Check your schedule below the shopping cart to make sure you have fully enrolled before exiting your CaneLink session.
What is the difference between dropping and swapping?
DROPPING is used when you no longer want the course. Once you drop it, you are deleted from the course, and there is no guarantee that there will be a seat available if you try to re-enroll. SWAPPING is used when you want to add yourself to a waitlist for a course in which you are already registered or when you have already registered for another course during the time slot you are trying to move into.
Should I use the swap function when adding myself to a wiatlist?
If you registered in another section of the class or are registered in anothr course at the time slot you are trying to move into, YES use the swap function! Here is a tutorial on how to set up a swap.
Activate the swap tab first, and then put yourself on the waitlist. FYI: you cannot be on more than three waitlists at any time. If you do not use the swap function before adding yourself to the waitlist, you will never move up the waitlist and get into the class.
How do I add a lecture with a discussion to my shopping cart?
Some courses require both a lecture and discussion section. They are paired in CaneLink. If a lecture is accompanied by several different discussion sections, select one discussion section that is at a different time than your lecture. Both will appear in your shopping cart.
Does having a class in my shopping cart guarantee a spot in a class?
No, it does not. Once a class is in your shopping cart, and there are open seats, and you are eligible for the course (i.e. have the prerequisites and meet any other restrictions), YOU must still complete the enrollment process by clicking ENROLL.
A seat is open in a class I want to take, but I do not meet the prerequisites. What can I do?
You must meet all prerequisites in order to enroll.
If I can't register myself on CaneLink, should I contact the Business faculty member to request permission to enroll in their course?
NO. Business faculty do no manage the process for permissions into their courses. If you qualify for the course, i.e. meet the prerequisites and any restrictions, the only way to get into the course is to add yourself to the waitlist.
May I ask a Non-Business faculty member to add me to their course?
Non-Business faculty do control entry into their courses. If you are qualified for the course (i.e. meet the prerequisites and any restrictions) and you cannot register in CaneLink, and it appears there are seats in the class, contact the faculty member via email.
I am a graduating senior and I need to enroll in a required course that’s closed. What are my options?

Are you eligible to enroll in the course?
You must have completed all prerequisites to enroll in a class. If have you taken the prerequisite at another institution, and you have not been granted credit, please send an email to Assistant Dean Batridge at jbatridge@miami.edu with a copy of the course description and syllabus from the institution's web site.
Are you registered in another course at the same timeslot as the course you are trying to get into?
If so, you should use the SWAP function before adding yourself to the waitlist.
Are you enrolled in too many credits for the semester?
Undergraduate students are allowed only 20 credits per semester.
If you are enrolled in more, the waitlist class will put you over that limit, and you will not get off the waitlist. Use the SWAP before adding yourself to the waitlist.
