MBS Alumni Spotlight: Raul Moas

The Miami Business School (MBS) has its fair share of outstanding and accomplished alumni. This month, we are featuring Raul Moas, BBA ’10, who has recently been appointed Miami Program Director of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, effective March 1. The Knight Foundation is a national non-profit organization that, among other things, focuses on building entrepreneurial economic bases in areas such as Miami. Moas has a strong background in social innovation and community development, having previously worked at AGP Miami and Roots of Hope.

MBS offers high caliber academic courses and programs, focusing on global and social entrepreneurship, as well as business competitions designed to encourage and promote startup ideas. Dr. Joseph Ganitsky, Management Professor and Director for the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), taught Moas in Fall 2009, and could not be prouder of his former student.

“Whether the class is on Entrepreneurship, Strategy or International Business, the overall purpose of my classes is to enhance the student's self-confidence and to develop further their critical thinking, analytic and communications skills,” said Dr. Ganitsky.

“Like Raul, many of our students are more interested in addressing social issues than just in making money. Thus, it is no accident that many end up engaging in social entrepreneurial ventures.”
