Professional Development

The University of Miami Chapter of the American Marketing Association strives to create a professional environment in which its members can grow, mature and develop a better understanding and appreciation for real-world marketing situations. This environment will encourage and promote marketing knowledge and expertise, as well as leadership, professionalism, business etiquette and a better sense of how marketing is practiced in corporations, small companies, start-ups and non-profit organizations. Creating this environment and imbuing our members with these values and skills is our mission.

Membership Information

Membership in our AMA chapter is open to all undergraduate students at the University with an interest in learning about marketing and is not restricted to marketing or business majors. Our meetings are an hour-long forum for learning, discussion and sharing of ideas and information. Each meeting explores the latest ideas and practices in marketing, which are then discussed by members. Many meetings will also include a condensed case study where the group applies these new ideas or tactics in order to improve an existing brand. Meetings are highly interactive and every member is encouraged to participate.

Additionally, the AMA chapter hosts presentations by marketing executives from leading companies such as FedEx, PepsiCo, Telemundo, Absolut and more, who share their experience in and perspectives on the world of marketing, as well as representatives from other clubs at the University of Miami, who come to the chapter looking for marketing solutions to their real-world problems.

Over the past several years, the chapter has received national recognition from national AMA headquarters for our work in the Collegiate Case competition. Members have had the opportunity to tour companies such as the Carnival Cruise Lines, CP+B advertising agency in Coconut Grove and the American Airlines Arena in downtown Miami, as well as, to network with working marketing professionals.
