Perspectives on Global Real Estate Markets

The University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference is hosted annually by the Miami Business School and the University's School of Architecture.

The conference brings together more than 500 industry professionals, students and recent alumni working in the industry to hear from leading experts on commercial and residential real estate markets. Speakers have included such industry titans as Sam Zell, the chairman of Equity Group Investments; Ian Schrager, the founder and chairman of Ian Schrager Company; Barry Sternlicht, the chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group; Jon Gray, global head of real estate for the Blackstone Group; and Stephen Ross, the chairman and founder of Related Companies.

2019 Real Estate Impact Conference

The 2019 Real Estate Conference will be held on February 8, 2019 and the keynote speakers are best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell (pictured left), Hamid Moghadam, CEO of ProLogis (pictured top right), and Armando Codina, Executive Chairman, Codina Partners (pictured bottom right).

2018 Real Estate Impact Conference

The 2018 Real Estate Impact Conference was held last February 9, 2018.

Keynote speakers included Arne Sorenson (pictured left), the president and CEO of Marriott International, the largest lodging company in the world and Barry Sternlicht, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Starwood Capital Group (pictured right). 

Following Marriott’s September 2016 acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, the company includes more than 6,000 properties across 30 brands in more than 120 countries and territories. In fiscal year 2015, Marriott reported revenues of more than $14 billion.


The 2017 Real Estate Impact Conference focused on how millennials are driving the transformation of real estate investment, smart cities, and the retail market. Speakers included David Simon (right), the chairman and CEO of Simon Property Group, who discussed the evolution of the retail industry from bricks to clicks and from Wall Street to Main Street.
