Joan Martinez Evora

Lecturer, Business Law


Joan Martínez Evora is a lecturer in business law at the Miami Herbert Business School. He has taught at the undergraduate, graduate, executive MBA and law graduate levels. Prior to joining the School, Martínez Evora was a visiting assistant professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law, where he taught law of obligations (torts and contracts) and International Family Law. He had previously been a member of the faculty at University of Havana School of Law, where he taught civil procedure.

Martínez Evora received formal education in both common law and civil law legal systems. He holds a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and a Juris Doctor equivalent degree, with honors, from the University of Havana School of Law. In addition, he has practiced as a litigator and in the areas of business law and real estate. His research interests are in the areas of international and comparative contract and company laws, specifically those affecting US businesses. He recently appeared in live interview in CNN Dinero discussing a case currently under consideration by the United States Supreme Court.

Contract law; international business law; intersections of law and business; consumer finance; and business ethics
