Ms. Marisol Capellan is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Management at the Miami Herbert Business School, and a doctoral student for the Higher Education Leadership (Ed. D) program at the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development. Ms. Capellan is also the CEO and co-founder of The Planning Management Company, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in social media entrepreneurship consulting, career development advising and personal development coaching. Previously, Ms. Capellan was the Manager of Programs for SEEDS (A Seed for Success), a University of Miami program focused on leadership, diversity, inclusion, mentorship, career development, the empowerment of women and minorities and their tenure advocacy throughout the University of Miami faculty ranks. Ms. Capellan worked within the University of Miami originating, administering and expanding faculty development and leadership programs to enhance women and minority research and grant opportunities. As the Manager of Programs, Ms. Capellan was nominated by executive leadership at the university to participate in advanced professional leadership and manager development training in the Essentials of Leadership Program through the University of Miami office of Talent and Organizational Development. Within this advanced training program, Ms. Capellan was selected by her peers to represent them as a panelist speaker during the awards ceremony. Ms. Capellan graduated magna cum laude from the Masters in Management Studies with Specialization in Leadership program at the University of Miami School of Business. She served as a Graduate Student Association Senator, and the executive Master’s program representative for UM’s School of Business, while also serving as the inaugural President of the Women in Leadership Association for graduate students.
As a student, she has studied leadership extensively and excelled in developing high performance and self-directed teams. Ms. Capellan has developed workshops and delivered highly informative presentations on time management, personal branding, leadership, career development and other topics of interest to university staff and graduate students. Ms. Capellan has continued to study and develop programs around these topics and her expertise in these areas has evolved to include her professional career outside of her duties to the University of Miami. Today, as Co-Founder and CEO of The Planning Management Company, Marisol's workshops and live presentations are designed to maximize their impact for corporate professionals and one-on-one professional coaching sessions, as well as group training sessions and presentations designed for corporate retreats or other events. A life-long learner and fluent in several languages, Marisol is currently working on her first book and continuously expanding on her ideas and expertise related to leadership, professionalism, excellence, personal development and empowerment by developing a Women's business and lifestyle conference, as well as marketing her abilities as a personal and business management consultant with her newly formed company. Ms. Capellan has a unique interest and belief in diversity and developed leadership skills as vitally important skills and as tools for ever-greater heights of achievement for individuals and organizations alike. Specifically, in what is an emergent area of focus in every forward-thinking organization today, Marisol has a great deal of experience developing, administering, and directing leadership development programs and initiatives. This is true not only in her current position at the University of Miami, but also as a leader of inclusion, diversity and leadership programs for minority women, as a graduate student leader and throughout her life, here in the United States, the Dominican Republic, Switzerland and Germany.
